Sharon Ames, Esq.
Certified EFT and Matrix Reimprinting Practitioner
As an attorney with my own practice for over 30 years, I know what it’s like to be the boss, receptionist, bookkeeper, marketing director, head of IT – you know, the stuff they didn’t teach you in law school! I have witnessed and experienced many changes in the profession over the years and they have not all been beneficial to lawyers. Through it all I have raised three children and watched proudly (and admittedly sadly) as they spread their wings to begin their lives away from home.
The pressure to be that “super-lawyer,” judge, paralegal or staff member in the legal field traps us in a huge set of unrealistic expectations. Yet in today’s legal workplace we must all be seen as competent, confident, always under control, accessible 24/7, and above all, not weak. On top of that, we have to be the perfect parent, partner and friend outside the office. I have seen great legal work sacrificed as attorneys often practice in “survival mode.” I have also seen relationships destroyed while attorneys produce great legal work.
I have read countless articles from around the world decrying the state of mental health in the legal profession, all citing the same studies and suggesting ways to change the prevailing culture in the legal profession. However, change does not come overnight and with COVID 19 rearing its ugly head in 2019, change has become all that more urgent.
While we have numerous resources to help us such as Meditation, Mindfulness, Yoga, Exercise, Healthy eating and a host of other wonderful and amazing practices, I have found EFT to be nothing short of profound in its ability to reduce one’s stress and increase calmness in a matter of minutes. EFT should be part of everyone’s mental health awareness and self care.
I am dedicated to bringing EFT to the legal profession as another tool in the toolbox, club in the golf bag, arrow in the quiver, brush on the palette (or however you would like to think of your collection of resources) for attorneys (and non attorneys) to help bring relief in an unprecedented time for everyone practicing and studying law.
So many in our profession believe that complaining about our mental health is a sign of weakness and that we just have to “deal with it.” In reality, and in the face of such attitudes, it actually takes courage to reach out for help. Over the past eight years, I have immersed myself in the study of energy techniques that are designed to help reduce stress and relax the body. Many of these techniques you can use by yourself whenever needed.

It’s possible to get your stress under control and be the attorney you were meant to be.
I invite you to watch to my recent interview with international EFT trainers, Alina Frank & Dr. Craig Wiener.
I would recommend working with Sharon because we were able to get to the heart of what was blocking me and then clear it out immediately. I felt such relief at the end of the session. I had tried a lot of other ways of working with my issue, but EFT was really able to free me up and I like that it is so simple to do while producing really powerful results.
After our work together I was able to go on and take action around an issue that had stymied me for months. And now it is resolved, I can move on to more important things.
Sharon is really down to earth in her approach, clear, professional, serious but also her warmth and caring is evident.
